In this week's episode of "GenXAWAY?" we dive deep into a truth that's defined our generation: We've been adults since we were 10. Remember those afternoons coming home to an empty house because both parents were working? That was us, the latchkey kids. We weren't just told to grow up fast; we were thrust into it. By the time the school bell rang at 3 PM, our second shift started. There was no one to watch over us; we were our own supervisors.
We navigated through homework, house chores, and making our own dinners—often choosing between a can of soup or whatever frozen meal we could heat up in the oven, because, let’s face it, microwaves weren’t a kitchen staple yet. Each day was less about childhood play and more about managing a miniature version of adult life.
We've Been Adults.
